CBC Christmas tree 2 compressed 226x300 - Christmas comes to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus

The lit up Christmas tree from 2022

The countdown is on for Christmas on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus – with a series of fun-filled, festive events to get you in the Christmas mood.

On November 29th join us from 5.15pm on The Green & The Gardens (outside the Royal Papworth Hospital) for the lighting of our campus Christmas tree. The 35’ Nordic Spruce will be lit up for all to see- with the 60-strong campus choir alongside singing your favourite Christmas songs, which will thaw even the grinchiest of hearts. Visitors can tuck into some delicious winter treats- crepes, waffles and a hot chocolate or two! The first 100 visitors can enjoy waffles and crepes at a 50% discount.

That’s not all – on December 1st the CBC is hosting our second annual Christmas fayre from 2pm-8pm. You can expect to find all your festive favourites: mulled wine, mince pies handmade gifts, independent traders, sweet and savoury treats. A special guest from the North Pole, Father Christmas will be on campus in the afternoon to hear all your Christmas wishes. If that’s not jolly enough for you yet, then come and hear our campus carol singers who will be singing all your favourite Christmas songs.

The fayre will be located between Cancer Research UK building and Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre, the stalls are a short walk from the main hospitals on campus.

As the afternoon turns in to a crisp winter evening, we’re hosting an Open Mic night after the market closes at 6pm. From then happy hour starts at the bar until 8pm. Come along to hear some festive tunes, comedy sketches, poetry and more!

Gill Wilson, Campus Enlivenment lead said: “We’re really excited to get everyone in the Christmas spirit with our ‘Christmas on Campus’ events. It’s a chance to bring together our colleagues, local people and families and show them that the CBC is somewhere where fun can be had! We host a series of free events throughout the year, and this is the perfect way to round them off for 2023.”

All events are free to attend and open to everyone, whether you work on campus, live nearby or are visiting. We look forward to seeing you there!
