A series of mindful walks on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus OPEN TO ALL, whether working on the campus, a patient, a visitor, a local resident or a member of the public.

This is an opportunity to turn to nature’s invitation to unplug from the demands of modern living and trace the steps of our ancestors by walking in safe company, led by our resident mindful walk leader, David Lynch, who will offer simple guidance on the soulful art of mindful walking, before walking in silence under the canopy of Hawthorn and diverse birdsong, and then reconvening back on campus for a hearty chat and a refreshing cold drink.

With this Mindful Walk we will be marking the autumn equinox and the theme of balance and the gradual turning towards autumn and winter, as days shorten and we lose the light. You are invited to join an intimate group of walkers to connect with nature and walk mindfully towards our local nature reserve, Nine Wells. Our walks are set up to help you to unplug from demanding work schedules to seek fresh air, inspiration and friendship.

We will lead you away from the urban campus, with my soulful colleague, Gill, to a mindful starting point in the shade of trees. I will offer some simple guidance on mindful walking and ask you to switch off your phones (non-negotiable).  After 20 minutes walking in gentle silence, we will lead you back to our starting point, and offer you a refreshing drink, inviting you to share your experiences and ask questions about mindfulness practice and its potential to help us manage our demanding lives.

We will be walking 500 metres from the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus into nature, meeting at the picnic benches between the front entrance to the Rosie Hospital and car park 2.

David Lynch leads nature-based mindfulness programmes and one-to-one coaching for those who want to learn ways of stilling the mind and managing stress. He lives near the campus and this walk is one of his daily rituals to keep well and alert. If you’d like to join his mailing list of future events, you can contact him on naturallymindfulnow@gmail.com

You don’t have to register for this – you can just turn up. But if you register you will receive reminders (and will also be informed if we have to reschedule for some reason).

This event is part of the ‘CBC Wellness Campaign’ – a series of webinars and events supporting the 21,000+ people who work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, many of whom are at the forefront of the changing face of healthcare. However, these events are also for anyone looking for additional support: you don’t have to work here and there is no charge to attend.
