Our purpose is to support the sustainable development of the site to keep it globally competitive as a centre for health, education and life sciences
CBC Ltd is neither a landowner nor a developer, although some of our members own land (none of which is subject to proposals for expansion into the Green Belt). However, we do work with local government and landowners to share our views on how the Campus should develop.

CBC Ltd was created in 2021 as a non-profit partnership which represents the health, research, education and life science organisations located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus:
Approach
We want to make the Campus a better place to work, visit and live beside
CBC Ltd members have an important contribution to make in shaping plans for how the Campus evolves – we are well placed to articulate how the collaboration between healthcare, education and life science partners can be harnessed to the benefit of local people, in particular through improved healthcare outcomes, scientific discovery and economic development.
We work with local government and landowners to share our views on how the Campus should develop to realise these benefits. This includes promoting a holistic approach to development, understanding the housing requirements of organisations on the Campus and promoting sustainable travel to, from and across the Campus.
We also recognise the wider spectrum of essential public infrastructure which is required for growth to be sustainable and inclusive and we are working with partners across the city to make the case for that infrastructure investment.
We want to give employers, staff and the public the chance to shape the Campus by understanding the views of our community and those most affected by what happens on the site. You can find out more about future plans as well as our Local Voices programme here.
We provide a coherent, compelling and collective narrative to government and key stakeholders, supporting policy and the objectives of members.
We also want to ensure that all stakeholders, including the public, are aware of how they will be engaged on landowner-led submissions to the formal local planning processes, which form an important part of our local democracy.

An economic impact assessment of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This is a report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr), on behalf of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC), detailing the economic contribution of the CBC to the UK and regional economies. This report predates AstraZeneca’s Discovery Centre opening on the Campus.
This report from Carnall Farrar focuses on the impact of healthcare provision and clinical innovation from the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The report aims to estimate the healthcare impact of the CBC across three domains: NHS activity, clinical innovation, and biomedical research funding.
This report, prepared by Lichfields on behalf of CBC Ltd, presents the findings of a study establishing the housing needs of the workforce at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Published in autumn 2021, the Vision 2050 set out the high level aspirations in health, education and life sciences for organisations working on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The 2021 document was produced with input from a range of external stakeholders and included engagement with a range of local community groups.
Three years on, the Directors of CBC Ltd have issued an update to Vision 2050.
Ensuring staff, patients, business representatives (authorised personnel, contractors etc.) and visitors can travel sustainably to and from the site is an essential part of reducing congestion on Campus, in Cambridge and in the surrounding area.
The CBC Transport Strategy brings the Campus organisations together to collectively deliver improved sustainable travel choices for everybody seeking to access the Campus.
