Free autonomous bus trial arrives on Campus
A new 26-seater autonomous bus is now running between the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and two nearby Park and Ride sites.
After extensive virtual and on-road testing, the self-driving, fully electric bus links Trumpington and Babraham Road Park & Rides with the Campus and will run throughout the week Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 1.50pm.
Using the bus is completely free as part of Connector – a trial by the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) to explore whether autonomous buses could be part of the transport solution for Cambridge in the future. The trial on Campus will run until March 2026.
You can find out more information including the timetable for the Connector Bus on the GCP website.
A safety driver, or ‘bus pilot’ will be on board at all times during the trials.
The Connector bus is seated only, and has space for one wheelchair or pram. Guide dogs are allowed on board.
