Cambridge Biomedical Campus cricket team looking for new players
Following a very successful league- and cup-winning season last year, the University of Cambridge Molecular Biology Cricket Team, based in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), is broadening its scope to become the official cricket team for the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The team was started back in 1968 by staff at the LMB, and are looking to recruit new players before the new season starts in May. The league is open to all, so isn’t limited to male players. You just need to work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Games tend to be on weekdays and home games are played at Hills Road Cricket Ground, usually against other science parks, campuses and University departments.
Speaking of the change, the team’s captain, Prathyush Pothukuchi, said:
“Sport is all about having fun, and whether you’re a seasoned cricketer or someone who’s trying it out for the first time, come along and get involved, or come and watch!”
The team is starting up with some nets sessions at Hills Road Sports Centre on a Tuesday evening. Spaces are limited, so if you are interested you can contact Prathyush at prathyush@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk.
