Campus cricket team ends season with cup

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC) cricket team beat the Sanger Institute to win the Cuppers cup, a knockout competition organised by the Cambridge University Cricket Club.

CBC won the final at Fenners Cricket Ground against the cup holders, batting first and scoring 158 runs, which Sanger were unable to match.

A successful season also saw the team come second in the league, improving on last season’s performance.

Reflecting on the season, team captain Prathyush Pothukuchi said:

“It was a fantastic cricket season for the team: we won the Inter-Departmental Cup and finished runners-up in the league. Several new players from the Biomedical Campus joined us this year, alongside plenty of outstanding individual and team performances. Many players stepped up at crucial moments to win matches, demonstrating the strength and depth across the squad.

“Most importantly, the entire season was played in a wonderful spirit. We look forward to welcoming more players and building on this success next season.”

With the season now over, we look ahead to next year. If you are interested in joining the team, you can contact Prathyush at prathyushroy@gmail.com.

The league is open to all, and isn’t limited to male players. You just need to work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
