So what is the talk about?
Bacteria form antibiotic-resistant aggregates called biofilms that pose significant challenges in healthcare settings. Most human bacterial infections proceed with biofilm formation. In my lecture I will discuss how bacterial infections and antibiotic resistance together, represent a slow-moving pandemic that must be urgently addressed by scientists, physicians and governments worldwide. Overcoming antibiotic-resistant bacterial biofilms requires fundamental insights into how they are formed. Tanmay will show the power of microscopic imaging, molecular biology and structural studies in uncovering fundamental mechanistic principles about biofilm formation, which directly help in the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
This webinar is part of the ‘CBC on Virtual Tour’ series – the chance to learn more about the Cambridge Biomedical Campus where over 20,000 people at the forefront of the changing face of healthcare are working and this event is co-branded with the MRC-LMB.
This event will be recorded and the link will be posted on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus YouTube channel.
